Sheehan Memorial began it's free Wellness Program in May 2005. The purpose of
this program is to promote healthier lifestyles by means of health education.
During these sessions a facilitator provides safe exercise instruction and/or
healthy cooking demonstrations, at which the participants are able to enjoy a
variety of foods. Written information about managing health conditions and
healthy eating is distributed, as well as information about their health
insurance plans and offer individuals the opportunity to enroll.
Sheehan's Wellness Sessions are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month from
10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the Sheehan Cafeteria. Look for our calendar (coming soon) to see
the when the next session will be held.
An additional component of the Wellness Program is the "Sheehan
Walkers". Monday through Friday, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Sheehan
employees and community residents walk 1 mile within the facility. When the
weather permits, the Sheehan Walkers exercise outdoors. The Sheehan Walkers
also do Line Dancing as a fun way to exercise! This program is free of charge
and welcomes new participants.
